Miah grew up like many of the girls in Found Village–often feeling stuck in a dark place. It was a mentor who came into her life at twelve years old and poured into her that guided her out of that place. As an adult, she knew that she wanted to do the same for girls caught in similarly tough situations. A college project that she created called “It Takes a VIllage” led her to discover Found Village, intern with us, and join our staff as a Girl’s Coach shortly after. She believes that in life, one may have to make their family depending on their circumstance. Found Village is the place to do that–to find connections that help our youth mobilize out of strenuous and toxic situations. This is a program that Miah wishes she had when she was younger. She hopes to one day either foster children or create an organization that is modeled after the Found Village vision.
